Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 296-863 governing Forklifts and Other Powered Industrial Trucks spells out the requirements for the maintenance and operation of forklifts and powered industrial trucks, as well as the training requirements for drivers.

Your employees who drive forklifts and other powered industrial trucks must be properly trained in use and safety of these vehicles. An experienced operator can conduct the training, if they follow some simple training criteria.

Then just begin your training.
There are TWO online courses provided by Washington State Labor and Industries. Your employees simply need to complete these modules and then complete an on-the-job evaluation where their driving is observed by a trained forklift driver.

Now your employees receive training on how to identify the signs and symptoms of employees who may be impaired on the job because of drugs or alcohol. This training meets the standards in 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382 of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA). We've partnered with AWARE Training to bring you the very best innovative training programs for the worksite.
The training is completed ONLINE! It's easy to set up and easy for the employee to follow. Once successfully completed, you can also print out the Completion Certificate for your records. What could be simpler!
